Ukulele Club

In school we have many different clubs and lunchtime/morning tea activities. In this blog post I'm going to talk about the club I decided to join 1 year ago, the ukulele club. In the ukulele club we do lots of fun, complex, and holiday related songs (mostly Christmas related).

A few months ago this year we played in the 2019 Strum Strike Blow. In base you didn't know what it is, Strum Strike Blow is a event that happens once a year.  Its an event where kids from all different schools in Christchurch fortunately gets a chance to play one of the 3 instruments ukulele, recorder/flute and the xylophone/marimba (it's slightly similar to a xylophone). Anyways our club was lucky enough to participate in Strike Strum Blow again this year. We played many songs like April sun in Cuba, Dragonfly,  Magnificent men etc.

This year they were fortunately able to get the bicycle band in the performance. The bicycle band is just a bunch of talented people who can play an instrument while riding a bike.  It was an amazing sight.

Well I hoped you enjoyed my blog post! Did you go to strum strike blow? What musical instrument do you play?

O Le Malaga Fa'A'Atua-The Journey Of The Gods

Today my hub watched a play made by Court theatre, it was called O Le Malaga Fa'A'Atua or the Journey of the Gods. The actors were Thalia, Jake, and Mana. The story was about how an eel turned into a coconut tree called "Sina and the eel".
The online story version

They acted so well and really expressed a lot of emotion. Their props were the simplest props but still very effective. It was easy to understand but still complicated in different ways. It was probably one of the best plays I've ever seen.

Hope you enjoyed my blog! :)
Did you watch it at your school? How was it?

The trip to the Museum

We went on a school trip to the Canterbury Museum. In the museum Anthony told us a story about a Taniwha named Poutini.

Link to full story: Poutini and Waitaiki

After Anthony told us the story we looked at Maori artefacts that the Maori people used back in the days.

Here are some pictures of us in the museum with Anthony:

After looking around, Anthony took us to a room to use and feel what the Maori felt back in the days using the Maori tools.

After that we had some morning tea. We climbed lots of trees and explored a lot.

When we finished morning tea we had some free time to explore in our groups. Here are some pictures.

We had a very fun day at the Museum! I hope you enjoyed my recount of the trip to the museum. What did you do when you visited a museum?

St Cecelia

In R.E (religious education) we have been writing about our favourite saint. Me and my best friend Samantha decided to write about St Cecilia. Here is our finished project

St Cecilia

After finishing the project we shared our work to the Kakano hub (yr 1 and 2). To my point of view they seemed very interested in our work. It was nice to see they enjoyed it. We only had a few facts but the kids still enjoyed it.

I hope you enjoyed my blogpost!
What is your favourite saint?
